STEMpowering Youth, an innovative STEM educational program which brings science and technology to students of remote areas of Greece, is coming to Mind the Lab to present its work! The students are encouraged to be inspired from their classes and take advantage of their skills and creativity in order to create innovative technological projects, designed to address a local or social issue.
Did that sound confusing? Don’t worry, we will explain- on Friday September 21st you will find us at Syntagma station between 14.00-21.00, giving you an opportunity to interact face-to-face with the “invisible measure” from Leros, as well as the light-sign for an Irish crossing and the bicycle alarm system from Komotini. The elderly can be inspired by the ingenious pill-reminder device from Siteia, Lasithi, and try out the Senior S.O.S smart watch from Rhodes. Students in Leros solved the problem of traffic-jams in their island’s narrow streets by building the “Smart Traffic Light” and their classmates reminded us how important fire-safety is in our country, creating an automated fire-alarm that you can watch in action! Finally, the Visitor Counter from Chania will be there to record your visit! And for those who want to try out their knowledge, come and play our interactive quiz and enter the draw for a digital technology prize!!! “STEMpowering Youth” is designed and implemented by the educational non-profit organization SciCo-Science Communication, with the academic support of Ellinogermaniki Agogi and the financial support of the Vodafone Foundation.
